On 30 of June in less than 3 weeks Timberland Nord CUP 2012 will be open. We will have 9 days full of sails, competition, wind and emotions. Each day we will see sailors racing across Bay of Gdansk on more than 200 boats in 18 classes.
Racing will start on high level with Easter Europe Snipe Cup. However, at the same time we will see Polish National Championships in Hobie 16, Hornet, Nautica 450 and 470 classes. Next to them races of Europe, Finn and OK Dinghy classes will take place. All of those classes will host international participation and strong competition.
In middle of a week the water will be taken over by windsurfing class Techno 293, that will have their Major of Gdansk Cup. In meantime – just opposite to regatta marina academic match racing will take places. Winners of this event will be nominated to represent Poland in Academic Match Racing World Championships.
Emotions will pick up during closing weekend when we will see four racing courses set next to Gdansk sandy beaches. We will see elite of polish yachting in 505, Delphia 24, Omega, PPJK and offshore classes. On top of it strong international fleet of Micro class will arrive to fight for Polish Open Championships.
Moreover crowds will be cheering for Zbigniew „Gutek” Gutkowski match racing to defend last year’s title. It was in Rostock (Germany) where he won Baltic Sail Nations Cup Match Racing. Due to this success we are proud to host this event in Gdansk.
Most spectacular race though will happen on 07 of July, when sailors will compete for Neptune’s Amber Cup. The race is open to everyone who is propled by wind. So we will see mono- and multihulls as well as wind- and kitesurfers racing together on the race track that will go along Gdansk beaches. There will be multiple categories presented to the winners but the one and only Neptune’s Amber Cup will go to first one who will cross the finish line.
